Friday morning a fire burned through the dormitory of Yeshiva Mercaz HaTorah of Belle Harbor, causing serious damage.
The FDNY thinks that the fire started at around 10:00AM in the top floor of the three-story dormitory.
Baruch Hashem, no occupants of the dormitory were injured. Unfortunately, a firefighter sustained injuries and was treated by Paramedics on the scene.
The cause of the fire was unknown, and the high winds and cold weather caused issues for firefighters . A request for additional manpower was sent to help extinguish the fire.
