President Joe Biden is passing new laws left and right using executive orders and the like, achieving changes in national policy that had he went through congress would take months and could never get passed.
As President Donald Trump discovered, executive actions can be shot down by courts easily. Congress can also override them, and they’re only good until the next president takes over and makes executive orders in his partys direction.
In President Biden’s first days, he reversed several of Former President Donald Trump’s polices. For starters he re-entered the Paris climate accord, ended restrictions on travel from some Muslim countries, and froze further construction of the border wall. He protected immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children, and a lot more.
Former President Barack Obama made a multinational nuclear deal with Iran and shaped and joined the Paris accord without Congress signing on, Trump withdrew the U.S. from both. He also passed Obama Care and since it was passed through congress it still hasn’t been undone by republicans who continue to speak against it.
Republicans are upset at Biden’s busy signature pen, voicing the standard complaint that comes from the party out of power in the White House.
When Biden was asked if Congress might have him send pandemic relief packages in chunks he said “No one requires me to do anything”. Biden has been drying up the ink in his pen signing tens of executive actions. It remains to be seen whether he’ll surpass the average of 55 executive orders a year that Former President Trump passed while in office.
