Recently Apple has been testing ne ways to allow iPhone to unlock while users are wearing a face mask. Currently if users try to use face recognition to unlock there phone while wearing a mask it won’t work, Apple has therefore been testing new ways to allow the iPhone to unlock safely even when users are wearing face masks.
Apple has came out with a new way an iPhone can recognize users wearing facemasks that will possibly be rolled out soon. If users wearing face masks are recognized by the face recognition software and have a synced Apple watch within a certain distance Apple will allow the phone to unlock. This setting will require users to opt in if they want to use it.
Apple has said that if they do roll this new feature out it will not work when users need to use face recognition to access Apple pay or other things. The feature will be exclusively for unlocking ones phone.
Apple has not yet said if this feature will be rolled out and when that might be.
