A voting technology company is suing Fox News, three of its hosts Rudy Guiliani and Sidney Powell for $2.7 billion. A 285-page suit was filed Thursday in New York state court by Smartmatic USA. On Jan. 25, a rival election-technology company – Dominion Voting Systems sued Guiliani and Powell for $1.3 billion. Dominions voting systems were used in 24 states while smartmatics was used only in Los Angelas county.
Smartmatic claims they received death threats including one against an executive’s 14-year-old son, and estimates they will lose $690 million in profits over the next five years.
The complaint states that Fox hosts Dobbs, Bartiromo and Pirro directly benefitted from their involvement in the “conspiracy”. The suit alleges that Fox went along with the “conspiracy” due to pressure from new outlets such as Newsmax and One America News, which were stealing away conservative, pro-Trump viewers from Fox.
According to the complaint The “disinformation campaign” on voting systems continued even after then-Attorney General William Barr said the Department of Justice could find no evidence of widespread voter fraud.
Fox said in a statement on behalf of the network and its hosts, that they reject the accusations. It said it is “proud” of its election coverage and said it would defend itself in court against the “meritless” lawsuit. Since the suit Fox has canceled Dobbs show due to him speaking about “voter fraud conspiracy’s”.
Nothing has been heard from Guiliani or Powel yet.
